Tension, Placement and Poetry

By Manena Frazier

Our experience is like a hall of mirrors, each impression informing and creating a reference for the next . Every memory with its accompanying emotions and opinions asserts it’s point of view as we take in new things. When we play with this feedback loop of experience we tap in to visual metaphor. The two plants in the picture above were placed on a shelf. I wanted to make their relationship undeniable , so I projected one of my inner references “what if they longed to kiss?” I pushed them closer together and played with turning them subtly twisting one way then the other until their desire to connect was undeniable to my inner narrative. That moment right before the kiss. The playful dancing of their two spirits felt in the maiden hair ferns above, the solid embodied weighty presence of the lovers world of form below, leaning in with curiousity .
